National Sawdust is aware of recent public developments regarding allegations against Roger Bonair-Agard of sexual violence and other inappropriate behavior.  Mr. Bonair-Agard in the past has participated as an ensemble performer at National Sawdust, and it was previously announced that he would be a writer-in-residence for an upcoming Baldwin Protocol series.

In view of the information recently made public by other institutions with which Mr. Bonair-Agard was associated, input from advisors and stakeholders, and an unwavering commitment by National Sawdust to hold this organization and our associations to the highest standards and protect our staff, volunteers and patrons, National Sawdust promptly ended its planned collaboration and relationship with Mr. Bonair-Agard and will no longer distribute or promote his work through our label or other distribution partnerships.

National Sawdust will continue to align its practices, programming and operations with our mission and to uphold our commitment to provide a safe space and community in which all of our collaborators, employees and audiences feel safe, heard and supported.  As a member of the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP), National Sawdust adheres to APAP’s Code of Ethics (found here).  NS will include the APAP Code of Ethics in all artist contracts and ensure compliance by all vendors, employees, board members, and other partners.  National Sawdust takes seriously all queries, questions and complaints related to any member of the National Sawdust community and will continue to thoroughly investigate and take appropriate action as necessary and in accordance with our policies and values as an institution.  For any questions please write National Sawdust at: externalaffairs@nationalsawdust.org
