(in collaboration with Carnegie Hall’s Musical Exchange program)

Celso Duarte and Magos Herrera, two multi-talented performers who “save songs” from folkloric traditions to explosive jazz arrangements, collaborate for the first time and present both saved and new works.

Celso Duarte, a virtuoso of Paraguayan harp and Mexican jarocho harp, arranger, singer, and multi-talented instrumentalist will perform new work. Duarte has worked with Lila Downs since 1998, and with Placido Domingo, Wynton Marsalis, and the Chieftans among others.

Immensely popular throughout Mexico and Latin America, a dazzlingly accomplished singer-songwriter known for her beguiling rhythmic scatting, inflected with soulful Latin- Andalusian phrasings, Grammy nominee, Magos Herrera owns a uniquely poignant vocal signature that elegantly blends her classic jazz styling with Latin-American melodies.
