Kim Chan
Deputy Director, Advancement
Kim Chan is the Deputy Director, Advancement at National Sawdust. She has worked extensively in New York City and Washington, D.C. as a fundraiser, marketer, curator, organizer, producer, and presenter across multiple art forms and aesthetic traditions – poetry, music, theater, dance, arts education, literature. She is a board member for Ping Chong + Company and Pick-Up Performance Co(s) and Mid-Atlantic Arts. She has also served on the board at APAP, La Pocha Nostra, and Dance Place. As a fundraiser, she has raised more than $22M from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individuals, including the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, and the New York Community Trust. Her work as a producer and curator has investigated issues of cross-border relationships, free expression, LGBTQ rights, and racism with artists and organizations such as Souleymane Koly, Bernice Johnson Reagon, Guillermo Gómez-Peña, Toni Blackman, Yo Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project, Pomo Afro Homos, Afro Cuba de Matanzas, Washington Performing Arts, GALA Hispanic Theatre, and APAP where she worked on the start-up of the international festivals Globalfest and Under the Radar and produced the annual APAP conference. Prior to joining the National Sawdust team, she produced the PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature for PEN America where she increased live event attendance by 227.6% and earned revenue by 345.8%.
