Kelsey Lu & Shamar Watt
Tickets
In anticipation of the upcoming release of her first solo EP, composer, vocalist & cellist Kelsey Lu invites the audience into “River Blues” – an immersive exploration of the meaning of home through voice, cello, and guitar.
She is joined by choreographer/dancer Shamar Watt, with dance curated by award-winning choreographer Zimbabwean nora chipaumire, in an extended reimagining of “Blue” off her upcoming release. Watt then performs a solo first look into a new dance project.
A Note from Kelsey Lu: “For me, this is our connection with one another and our connection to the materials that make up what we are and how we interpret those connections and those materials. From the Rivers that pour from the Mountains flowing, to the Sea that’s composed of innumerable micro organisms and of course those that are large enough for us to see, creating that which is the Veins of this Earth. To the Man Made Lazy Rivers that create this weird sense of calm of having some force pushing us along in the same direction, yet at the same time still going in a continuous cycle that is Life. With life comes a whole host of things for all of us personally, yet we go on , we keep living, or we don’t, there is no one current. Hopefully we keep changing, we keep growing, we keep falling, we keep evolving but most importantly, we keep Feeling. It doesn’t always come out positively, but shit man, that balance, that is Life.”
