About the Show
The screening of Every Other Summer will be at 10pm following the On Fillmore show.
Directed by Christoph Green and Brendan Canty, Every Other Summer is a documentary about the Solid Sound Festival, Wilco’s three day music and arts gathering that takes place once every two years at MASS MoCA. Shot at the most recent festival and featuring performances by Wilco, Neko Case, Yo La Tengo, The Dream Syndicate, Lucius, Foxygen, Sam Amidon, Sean Rowe, The Relatives and appearances from Reggie Watts, John Hodgman, Jen Kirkman and others, Every Other Summer offers a peek into the festival’s utopian vibe, and the positive transformative impact it has had on the small rust belt town of North Adams, MA.
About the Artists
Glenn Kotche
For a percussionist and composer like Glenn Kotche, it’s his ability to thrive in different and seemingly disparate worlds that really makes him a singular musician. The rhythmic anchor in Wilco since the 2001 breakthrough Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Kotche has continued over the course of five albums, including the Grammy-winning A Ghost Is Born and Grammy-nominated Star Wars. Kotche has also written music for classical and post-classical ensembles like Kronos Quartet, Silk Road Ensemble, Bang on a Can All-Stars, eighth blackbird, Third Coast Percussion, and So Percussion for Drumkit Quartets, Kotche’s most recent release in February 2016 via Cantaloupe Music.
Darin Gray
Darin Gray (born 1968) is an American musician and composer based in Edwardsville, Illinois. Besides Dazzling Killmen and Brise-Glace, he has played in bands such as Yona-Kit, Tweedy, You Fantastic!, Sad Lewis, Grand Ulena, and On Fillmore.
