About the Show
Presented by National Sawdust Artists-in-Residence, The Refugee Orchestra Project, REFUGEES ARE US is a concert experience celebrating and supporting the refugee community by addressing problematic narratives about refugees with truth, humor, and music. The performance will draw from and build upon the REFUGEES ARE US video initiative, done in collaboration with non-profit collective Papel&Caneta.
The Refugee Orchestra Project is conducted by its founder, Lidiya Yankovskaya, a renowned conductor who also serves as Musical Director for the Chicago Opera Theater.
More information about the REFUGEES ARE US initiative can be found at http://www.refugeesare.us/.
