In this immersive, psychedelic audiovisual performance, composer Ricardo Romaneiro and Liquid Light Lab mix live chamber and electronic music with a classic liquid light show to explore images of the cosmos, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
Liquidverse takes the audience on an audiovisual journey featuring onboard audio from Apollo 11 to Mission Control, and additional behind-the-scenes audio from the intrepid astronauts on the 8-day journey to the moon and back. Imagery from photos and videos in the NASA archives is woven live in real time into an immersive liquid light show experience. Join us in celebrating 50 years since humankind landed on the moon.

The Artists
Liquid Light Lab is the work of Steve Pavlovsky, a kinetic light artist from New York City. A majority of his work uses liquid projection, experimental media, and handmade organic elements first seen in the psychedelic light shows of the 1960s. Following on the visual music traditions of Kandinsky, Thomas Wilfred, and The Joshua Light Show, Mr Pavlovsky invokes the Sublime and Spiritual. Building upon an analog relationship to light and time found in the work of his predecessors, Pavlovsky has created Liquid Light Lab, a living, breathing, visual expression of music, nature, and the human spirit rooted in old school psychedelic light shows, and brought into the 21st century. www.liquidlightlab.com
Composer and electronic artist Ricardo Romaneiro was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, and moved to the US at an early age. A graduate of The Juilliard School, Romaneiro writes music that synthesizes his major influences and passions: classical and electronic music. The New York Times described his work as “a blissful and compelling mix of Minimalist-derived rhythmic ecstasy and nightclub beats”. His music has been featured, performed, and commissioned by an eclectic range of institutions, festivals, and projects, such as the Museum of Modern Art’s Summergarden Series, BAM, the New Juilliard Ensemble, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Metropolis Ensemble, Wordless Music, Ensemble LPR, the Nu Deco Ensemble, the House of Creatives Festival, the Electric Paradise Festival, ECCE, the American Composers Orchestra, Quintet of the Americas, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the Colorado Ballet at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, and the Sacramento Ballet. His work has been featured in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Vice/Creators Project, Esquire Magazine, Brooklyn Magazine, Untapped Cities, Vogue, and Edible Manhattan. A recipient of the ASCAP Rudy Perez Songwriting Scholarship, he earned a bachelor’s degree in composition from the Manhattan School of Music and a masters degree in composition from The Juilliard School. www.romaneiro.com
