About this performance
HOWL’s world premiere production of ARABY for cello and voice, explores the connection between music, language, and theatre. This time James Joyce’s short story “Araby” is front and center – a compelling and universal tale about first love and the loss of innocence.
Tonia Ko and Matthew Schickele, two truly engaging composers, will present composed works inspired by Joyce. The evening also features music by Kaija Saariaho and is co-directed by Mary Ellen Stebbins and Amy Beth Kirsten.
The ARABY cast:
Boy – Hai-Ting Chinn, mezzo-soprano
Girl – Hannah Collins, cello
