Harman Street Studios Afterparty, presented by Found Sound Nation and Make Music New York, will showcase recordings crafted by teams of producers from 8 cities around the world. In conjunction with international Make Music Day (June 21st), Street Studio producers will run public recording studios in their the local communities and have one day to mix their recordings. Following a listening session, A panel of judges will vote on their favorite tracks, with the grand prize winner receiving a pair of AKG414 XLII microphones, courtesy of HARMAN. The evening will also feature additional music by Brooklyn’s DJ Nappy G.

Found Sound Nation (FSN) pioneered Street Studios as a model for collaborative music-making at the Lucerne Music Festival in Switzerland in 2011. FSN and has since organized mobile recording studios on all five continents and captivated audiences at festivals including the Harare International Festival of the Arts (Harare, Zimbabwe), Lincoln Center Out of Doors (NYC), Big Ears (Knoxville, TN), the Bay Chamber Festival (Maine), and for Make Music Day in partnership with Make Music New York. Street Studios have the extraordinary ability to capture the particular energy of a time and place, tapping into the “collective unconscious” of public spaces.
Found Sound Nation (FSN) is a collective of musicians and artists who leverage the unique power of creative sound-making to help build strong, just, healthy communities. Amongst its many projects, FSN currently runs OneBeat, an international music festival and exchange program in partnership with the Department of State, and the Dosti Music Project, a residency for musicians from India, Pakistan and the United States in partnership with the US Embassy in Islamabad. FSN is part of the new music organization Bang on a Can, founded in 1987 by composers Michael Gordon, David Lang and Julia Wolfe.
