Praised by the Washington Post as “one of the most acclaimed experimental musicians of the last decade,” Braxton has been writing and performing music under his own name and collaboratively, under various group titles, since the mid-1990s. He is the former front man of experimental rock band Battles, whose debut album Mirrored was both a critical and commercial success. Since departing Battles in 2010, Braxton has focused on composing music for HIVE, as well as composing commissioned pieces for ensembles such as The Bang on a Can All Stars, Kronos Quartet, Alarm Will Sound, and Brooklyn Rider. In 2012, he collaborated with Philip Glass during the ATP I’ll Be Your Mirror festival. He has also performed his orchestral work Central Market with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, London Sinfonietta, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and New York’s Wordless Music Orchestra.
Braxton’s latest release, the Oranged Out EP, was released via Bandcamp as a pay-what-you-want download, with proceeds going to the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund. To learn more about Everytown For Gun Safety: http://everytown.org. Oranged Out EP is a collection of tracks from or near the time Braxton was working on HIVE1 – an album he released last year on Nonesuch Records. Written and recorded throughout 2013 and 2014, the EP includes solo electronic works, as well as pieces that were originally conceived for HIVE – a performance work Braxton debuted at New York’s Guggenheim Museum in 2013.
At National Sawdust, Braxton will be performing solo with visuals by Grace Villamil.

Z’s
Zs was founded in 2000 and has existed as a trio, sextet, and quartet, now solidifying into the trio formation of Sam Hillmer (tenor saxophone), Patrick Higgins (guitar/electronics), and Greg Fox (drums). While their music has been variously categorized as no-wave, brutal-prog, and post-minimalist, Zs is primarily concerned with making music that challenges the physical and mental limitations of both performer and listener. Manipulating extended technique, unique instrumental synthesis, and near telepathic communication, Zs aims to create works that envelop the listener and unfold sonically over time, evoking unspoken past, present, and future rites and ritual. Zs has performed in lofts, galleries, rock clubs, and concert halls across the United States, Europe and Japan, with The Locust, Gang Gang Dance, Animal Collective, Battles, The Dirty Projectors, Orthrelm, Octis, The Flying Luttenbachers, Behold… The Arctopus, Yellow Swans, Get Hustle, Dan Deacon, among many others.
MARY LATTIMORE
Mary Lattimore is a harpist living in Philadelphia. She experiments with her Lyon and Healy Concert Grand harp and effects. Her solo debut, “The Withdrawing Room”, was released in 2013 on Desire Path Recordings.
Mary also writes harp parts for songs and recordings, performing and recording with such great artists as Meg Baird, Thurston Moore, Sharon Van Etten, Jarvis Cocker, Kurt Vile, Steve Gunn, Ed Askew and Fursaxa.
