About the Show
Contemporary Classical
“In the weightless reading by the violinist Johnny Gandelsman, the violist William Frampton and the vocal ensemble Choral Chameleon , the music unfolded in contemplative beauty, with the juxtaposition of the instruments’ throaty individuality and the even-tempered coolness of the voices creating just enough tension to sustain interest.”
This program is presented by National Sawdust’s 2017/2018 Artists-
This program, titled ’Spirit’, is the first installment of the sensational vocal ensemble Choral Chameleon’s 3-part ‘Mind, Body, Spirit’ series that celebrates and honors the vessel of a singer’s voice: the human being.
In ‘Spirit’, Choral Chameleon’s 12-voice Ensemble explores the movement of the palpable, yet unseen musician’s spirit. In this unique program, the singers and Artistic Director Vince Peterson will co-curate the music selection as a means of autobiography – each of them openly telling the personal “coming of age” story of their musical upbringing.
Projection-mapped visuals will be created by artist Eric Epstein, incorporating life artifacts from each singer, enhancing the listener’s experience and drawing the audience closer in an intimate, vulnerable setting.
The music program includes the following selections:
Krists Auznieks – I Exist As I Am (US Premiere)
Edward Thompson – Effortlessly Love Flows – World Premiere
Edward Thompson – Blessed Be You
Dale Trumbore – I Am Music
